The tax department in Jersey was overwhelmed by the high volume of enquiries they received about tax. Customers were frustrated with the existing online information, finding it difficult to understand. This resulted in an excessive number of emails and calls that the department couldn't keep up with, leading to customer dissatisfaction. To address this, they approached us to develop a highly accessible and user-friendly personal tax calculator.
Our team built a form with a series of inputs that catered to different user preferences. We made sure that the form was accessible to everyone, including those with visual impairments, by using a variety of input options such as standard text input, easy to use range sliders, and ensuring compatibility with screen readers.
We also made sure that all the colours used contrasted well for colour blind people. At the bottom of the form, we included a graphical view to help users easily understand how their financial details affect their tax. For users who prefer to see the results in a table format, we included a table view of all the results. The personal tax calculator was built using Vue.js, HTML, and CSS, making it lightweight and easy to embed on the client's website.
